If you’re from the UK originally or have lived there for a while, you’ve probably heard of the hotel price comparison website called Trivago. The German company has been popular in the European travel market for several years, and it’s recently become the world’s best site for comparing hotels and finding the best price. But in case you haven’t heard of Trivago yet, here’s the general idea: Trivago compares the prices for hotel rooms from over 200 different websites to make sure you get the best price available online.
What you may not realize is that Trivago has a version of its site that is specifically designed for UK residents, Trivago.co.uk. The website itself looks exactly the same, but there are some subtle differences that make it somewhat more convenient to use this version of the website when you live in the UK. Most noticeably, your prices will be in Pounds Sterling by default, and Trivago will assume that your preferred language is English. The site should also exclude results that come from sites that aren’t available in the UK, if applicable.
How to use Trivago.co.uk
This price comparison website is very intuitive and well-designed, so it’s easy to use even if it’s your first time. First, type the destination where you want to go on holiday, have a business trip, etc. into the search bar, and then use the calendar to select your check-in and check-out dates. Just to be clear, you can search for hotels anywhere in the world using Trivago.co.uk – you aren’t limited to hotels in the UK itself.
Now, it’s time to narrow down your search results and find the ideal hotel for your stay, at the lowest possible price, by applying different filters and sorting priority depending on your needs. Filter out any hotels that don’t have a “good” or “excellent” user rating, or only see hotels that are close to the beach. If you want to be close to a specific landmark, you can sort by distance. If your priority is price, you can have the cheapest hotels appear first. Need handicapped access and a lift? There are filters for those, too.
Pretty soon, you’ll have a short list of 2-5 great hotels that have everything you’re looking for. When you decide on one and click the green “book now” button, you’ll be linked to whichever travel website was advertising the lowest price for that hotel. Then, you can make your reservation on that website – it really couldn’t be easier!
